KCCA FC vs VIPERS FC: UPL giants face-off in much anticipated tough show

KCCA FC vs VIPERS FC – KICK OFF: 4PM [EAT] at MTN-Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, Kampala.

Just a few days after the Lugogo based Uganda Premier League side unveiled CHINT as their new principal shirt sponsor, replacing SEE TV in a deal that will see the club acquire floodlights to host night games, they host former league champions Vipers SC.

The hosts, KCCA Football club who have only managed to secure three points from the two games they have played losing to Arua Hill SC and picking three points against the Purple Sharks in their league Opener, will have to prove a point again as they host Vipers SC.

KCCA face a team which has not conceded any single goal in normal time of play and haven’t lost their last five games and this could be a much tougher side for KCCA to overcome.

Morley Byekwaso who has a youthful squad and with his new signings to the club who haven’t had a good start, will have to carefully take good selection for the starting eleven and any result from their big rival will have a big impact on the head coach’s future at the thirteen time champions club.

“We have been working on our mistakes from the last loss trying to correct everything, as we have prepared well and are ready to face Vipers:”, said Morley.

“The players know the magnitude of the game, we need to be more effective as we want to achieve a positive result”, Morley added.

Brian Kayanja, Mayanja Saidi are unavailable for selection while Denis Iguma will return to face Vipers.

On the other hand, the visitor’s Vipers SC who have just sealed their CAF Champions League  group stage qualification after edging TP Mazembe on penalties, will be looking at registering their first league win of the season.

The Kitende based side who just boosted their squad with a Congolese duo, will be a tougher one for KCCA to overcome despite being away.

“We just have to work hard as we don’t expect an easy game, the quality they have at the club plus the coach is exceptional, said Oliviera.

“It’s an incredible challenge for us and our players know that, as it’s a difficult game for both of us as we shall perform on a high level”, Oliviera summarised.

Vipers SC will miss the service of Siraj Ssentamu and  Ibrahim Orit who are ruled out due to injury while Frank Zaga will be back for selection.
