COVID-19 attack New Vision and Daily Monitor, 2 senior journalists are dead

Journalists Monica Okot and Pauline Bangirana of Rupiny radio station and Daily Monitor respectively were on Wednesday morning pronounced dead after losing their fight to COVID-19. 

Bangirana who has been freelancing with Daily Monitor died at Nsambya Hospital where she had been admitted according to her work colleague Christine Katende.

“We have just lost a colleague. Pauline Bangirana has just passed on at Nsambya hospital,” Katende wrote. 

According to one of her close friends who preferred his identity withheld, she was sick for only four days.

“She got sick and in the third day she was out in ICU, then she died on the fourth day.” He said via a phone call with this site.

Our source also says that Ms Bangirana has left behind a very young baby. 

Vision Group has also confirmed the death of Monica Okot.

As per the Ministry of Health website, Uganda has a total number of 53,961 cases of COVID-19 infections with 383 deaths.
