Gen Katumba Shooting: Haruna Kayondo's family speak out on his death, begs government for help (Video)

Haruna Kayondo breathed his last on Tuesday after he was shot dead during an attempted assassination of his boss General Katumba Wamala that happened at Kisaasi – Kisota road.

Kayondo died on spot together with his boss’s daughter Brenda Nantogo.

According to Kayondo’s sister Madina Nakibule, the father of four has left his family in an uncertain situation since he has been taking care of over 20 children.

“Kayondo has been a strong pillar of our family. Both of us have been taking care of the 20 children left behind by our two deceased siblings. I really do not know how I will singlehandedly shoulder this huge burden,” Ms Nakibule cried out.

His widow Irene Achan appealed to the government to carry out an investigation and get the suspects. She has also asked for financial help.

“There are cameras now, they should investigate and get people who did this because right now as a widow I’m left in the air and also they should help me financially because my children are still young and my husband has been everything in our lives,” Achan said.

Kayondo was born in Lugando village Bigasa sub-county in Bukomansimbi District. He was a taxi driver operating his business on Bukomansimbi, Masaka route before joining the army in 2006.

He was the last born of four and he died at the age of 38 leaving behind four children and a widow.
