NUP's Mpuuga vs Kasumba

Viewers of NBS Television were left in shock on Wednesday night during the NBS Live at 9 news bulletin when National Unity Platform (NUP) Vice President Buganda region Mathias Mpuuga embarrassed news anchor Samson Kasumba during a live interview.

It all started when Samson asked Mpuuga “How do you go about the business of finding a leader of the opposition when (1) you claim to have won an election (b) out of a divided opposition beyond a very difficult one of the speaker and their deputy.”

Angry Mpuuga answered the journalist by saying that NUP doesn’t just claim that they won the election but it’s true they won it. Mpuuga said he didn’t expect a senior journalist like Kasumba to ask such questions.

“I do not know whether you are trying to set me up, I’ve just been sworn in and I do not expect a journalist of your status and your age to ask me such a question. I think it’s very unfortunate and uncharitable, you are saying that we claim to have won an election. Do you have election tallies so that we can compare because you call ours a claim. I think that’s a very unfortunate question I don’t expect a senior journalist like you to begin on that note.” He said to the journalist.

Mpuuga explained further that NUP has chosen to be Democratic. However, he says that it doesn’t change the fact that the 2021 presidential election in which their Candidate Robert Kyagulanyi participated and lost was botched.
