JUST IN: Mohammed Ssegirinya released from prison
Mohammed Ssegirinya appeared before court on Monday via Zoom at Kigo

International Criminal division court presided over by Justice Suzan Okalany has ordered for the release of Kawempe North Member of Parliament Mohammed Ssegirinya from Kigo prison after MP for Ntejeru South Nsaja Patrick standing as substantial surety replacing Hon Zaake Francis.

Zaake who is out of the country had committed himself to stand surety for the Kawempe North legislator but failed to turn up hence forcing Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago who’s Ssegirinya’s lawyer to substitute him with Nsanja.

Zaake’s disappearance forced Ssegirinya to stay in jail longer after being granted bail on September 20 2021 by Justice Victoria Nakintu Katamba.

Ssegirinya together with Makindye West MP Allan Ssewanyana were arrested on September 8 and taken to Masaka magistrate’s court on charges of murder, attempted murder, and terrorism arising from the Greater Masaka machete murders.
