‘God’ Owobusobozi Bisaka will not be buried

Followers of late self-proclaimed God Owobusobozi Bisaka have insisted that their god was buried but instead, his body was embalmed for future viewing.

Bisaka surrendered to death on 19th January 2020 after he was attack by the deadly virus COVID-19.

The body has been kept in his house in Kapyeemi cell in Muhorro town council in Kagadi district. Embalming is the art and science of preserving human remains by treating them to forestall decomposition. This is done to ensure that the deceased is suitable for public or private viewing or preserved for medical purposes.

Bisaka was born on 11 June 1930 at Kitoma Kiboizi in the Parish of Bujuni. His grandfather Alifonso Wenkere worked as a catechist, but it was his grandmother Nykakake who taught him about God.

Bisakathen desired to be a priest but did not get a chance. He later qualified as a teacher and he started serving the Catholic Church as a choirmaster. Bisaka composed many catholic Runyoro hymns sung to date.

In 1948 he failed to be admitted into a minor seminary, he changed his attitude towards the church leaders. He became critical of the catholic faith, only to announce his revelation in 1975. A revelation that completely got him out of the church to begin his own church and himself as God – Owobusobozi.

He claimed to have received spiritual powers to heal the sick. Ironically he received the powers from heaven.

His followers pray on every 2nd, 12th and 22nd of each month.

Bisaka has followers in Kagadi, Kibaale, Mubende, Hoima, Kakumiro, Kyankwanzi, Kyenjonjo and Kiboga districts. He also has followers in DR Congo, South Sudan, Rwanda, Tanzania and Kenya among others who have been visiting him in search of blessings and healing.
