“He’s not the first one to die,” UPDF goes arrogant as ex-Kyambogo University Guild candidate Christian Ahabwe was laid to rest

Christian Ahabwe, a Uganda People’s Defence Forces-UPDF engineering recruit, died on Sunday after unsuccessful surgery at Lubaga Hospital, Kampala.

Christian Ahabwe, 24, who joined the UPDF on July 22 alongside other 10,000 recruits succumbed to injuries. According to Boom Uganda sources, Christian started complaining of a backache before he was referred to Bombo military hospital which also referred him to Lubaga hospital where doctors said it was intestinal complications that made his brain keep swelling.

“Our recruit called Ahabwe Christian who was admitted to Lubaga hospital passed on. We commiserate with the family of the late and the UPDF will closely work with the school authorities, the family, the doctors, and the hospitals who managed him to establish what could have caused his death,” Col Deo Akiiki, the deputy UPDF spokesperson said on Saturday.

A young man with a golden heart was on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, laid to rest at his ancestor’s home at Rutugunda, Nkambi, Kirima Subcounty, Kanungu district.

However, during his burial ceremony, mourners were left in shock by the condolence message of UPDF representative Maj. Ademunu Peter from the director estates.

Maj. Peter, in front of hundreds of mourners, said Christian is not the first person to die. He told people to forget about his death and send more of their children to join the force.

“Christian has died, but he is not the first person to die, 7 more people have died. That is what we have all passed through. Forget about his death and send more of your children to join the Army,” He partly said.

The statement that left mourners turning heads came amidst viral allegations that UPDF damaged his spinal code and brain that lead to his death. (Read Story Here).
