Meet Patrick Ogwang, the blain behind the development of approved COVID-19 drug COVIDEX

Local drug COVIDEX developed by a Ugandan professor Patrick Engeu Ogwang has on Tuesday been approved by the National Drug Authority (NDA) to work as a supplementary medicine in treating COVID-19.

Professor Patrick Engeu Ogwang is a renowned researcher in herbal medicines, head of pharmacy at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) and a former executive member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda. 

He is the founder of Jena Herbals Uganda Limited which has been in existence for now sixteen years.

Ogwang is the Past former President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda.

Dr Ogwang has been actively involved in research with notable achievements in development of safe and effective herbal medicines.

Most of his scientific research has been published in British Journal of Pharmaceutical Research, Tropical Journal of Pharmaceutical Research, African Health Sciences and others.
