Benon Magezi: His wife, children, biography and all you need to know about late Bishop

Rt Rev Bishop Benon Magezi of North Kigezi Archdiocese succumbed to COVID-19 on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at Mbarara Referral Hospital where he was admitted after testing positive weeks. 

According to Rujumbura County Member of Parliament (MP) Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi who was the first to break the sad news at 10:15 pm on Tuesday evening through his Facebook page and a Whatsapp group of Rujumbura district leaders, Bishop’s wife Ms. Gladys Magezi had been on his side in the hospital taking care of him.

“Dear brothers, it’s so sad to announce the demise of Bishop Benon Magezi of North Kigezi Diocese. The wife rang me and was calm and strong but prayer for her at such a time as this.” He said.

Benon Magezi was born in 1960 in Bwanda Village, Rukungiri District, and breathed his last on 15 June 2021 at Mbarara Reginal Hospital in Mbarara City.

Magezi has been was an Anglican bishop in Uganda he was Bishop of Kigezi since 2017 until his death.

The late Bishop was consecrated as the fifth Bishop for North Kigezi Diocese on January 8, 2017. 

He has left behind a widow and five children.
