Gen Katumba Shooting: President Museveni furious at gunmen

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has showed his anger against four gunmen who attempted an assassination on the outgoing minister for Works and Transport General Katumba Wamala’s life on Tuesday morning.

Museveni says that the assassins who fired at the Katumba’s land cruiser leaving his daughter Brenda Nantongo Katumba and driver Haruna Kayondo dead are pigs.

According to Museveni, Katumba’s bodyguard should have fired to kill the gunmen instead of firing in the air to threaten them.

“Pigs which do not care about other people’s lives have shot Gen Katumba Wamala and killed his daughter plus his driver. I grieve for those two Ugandans that have lost their lives. I’ve talked to Gen Katumba on phone twice. He is receiving medication.

“The bodyguard should not have shot in the air. He should have shot to kill. We could be having a dead terrorist instead of scaring away the terrorists. His shooting saved Gen. Katumba by scaring the criminals away,” Museveni said.

Over the years, Ugandan high profile people have been shot and died on spot but Katumba survived.
