How NRM boss Museveni survived being shot dead by his bodyguard

Museveni sworn in as president of Ugandan for the 6th term

Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is the current president of the Republic of Uganda and he has been president since 1986 after talking over the country’s biggest office from then his boss Obote Milton.

On Wednesday, May 12, 2021, Museveni of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) sworn in as Uganda’s president for the next five years after winning the January 14 general elections beating his nearest Challenger honorable Robert Kyaguranyi Sentamu of the National Unity Platform (NUP).

NRM’s Museveni emerged winner with 6,042,898 million votes with 58.38{a6adf960b9dc55bb3e49ff07c82daa20469ae533cf096e1b9d27878361bb9db5} as NUP’s Bobi Wine managed only 3,631,437 million votes which stand at 35.08{a6adf960b9dc55bb3e49ff07c82daa20469ae533cf096e1b9d27878361bb9db5}.

However, the man living his dreams once survived being shot dead by his bodyduard before he came into power.

The NRM boss nearly lost his life on July 19th 1980 in Masindi District where he was addressing a public assembly.

The incident happed after his bodyguard surrendered to asleep during the meeting and when he got hold of his weapon, shot a few bullets killing one person immediately.

Museveni 76, is the longest serving President in history of Uganda.

This current 6th term will see Museveni as the third longest serving leader in Africa after Paul Biya who has been president of Cameroon for over 45 years and Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Genuine who has been the country president for over 41 years.
