KITALO! Police confirm 14 people died in Masaka accident

At least Fourteen (14) people have been confirmed dead in an accident that took place today Thursday 6th May morning on Masaka- Mbarara highway after a head on collision involving a commuter taxi and a trailer. 

According to Uganda Police, the fourteen people who have died on spot include Five (5) females, Seven (7) male adults, and two (2) male juveniles.

Police explains how the accident happened.

“A Tanzanian trailer registration number TH77 BVW/T433 BDY Mercedes Bend collided with a Toyota HiAce registration number UBE 995C that was coming from Sembabule-Matete to Kampala. The trailer driver was overtaking on the wrong side of the road.” A statement from Police reads.

Only one person has been identified as Galambe Francis 36, a resident of Buloga village Kayunga Matete sub-county, Sembabule district. 

Police have explained that other dead passengers did not have any identification documents however efforts to identify them are ongoing.
