MPs Ssegirinya and Allan Ssewanyana’s life in prison

National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine has given an update on the lives of Kawempe North Member of Parliament Hon Ssegirinya Muhammad and Makindye East Member of Parliament Hon Allan Ssewanyana.

The two MPs were arrested last year in September last year after allegations that they were master planners of the Masaka ‘Bijambiya’ killings that claimed a number of lives.

According to Bobi Wine, who visit them on Friday at Kigo prison said that Ssegirinya and Ssewanyana are still going through challenges like ill health but he is hopeful that they will be put to trial soon.

“For eight months now, NUP MPs Hon. Allan Ssewanyana and Hon. Ssegirinya Muhammad have been in jail over trumped up charges. After all these months, the trial is yet to start! Yesterday I checked on them at Kigo.

“With great heaviness, they told me the numerous challenges they’ve been going through, including ill health, without access to specialised treatment. It is such a tragedy to live under military rule! #FreeAllPoliticalPrisonersUganda,” Bobi Wine posted.
