Has speaker Jacob Oulanyah passed on? Details emerge

There are rumours making rounds on different social media platforms indicating that the speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah has sadly died. 

The rumours indicate that Jacob Oulanyah was poisoned.

“Bad news coming from UW Medical Center Montlake Seattle about the condition of Jacob Oulanyah, we are told the medical team blamed those concerns as to why they took this long to seek medical treatment. The man is suspected to have been poisoned,” One social media post reads.

According to Deputy Speaker Anita Among, Jacob Oulanyah is alive but struggling with an illness. 

Through her Twitter account, Among has said that the Speaker travelled abroad on Friday for specialized treatment as advised by doctors at Mulago hospital. 

“I wish to inform the Country that the Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon. Jacob Oulanyah has been unwell for the last two weeks. During that period he was receiving medical attention from Mulago National Referral Hospital. The Medical Experts at Mulago in consultation with his personal doctors, decided to refer him for further specialised medical attention out of the country,” She partly stated.

She prayed for his recovery, confirming that he is still alive. 

This is the second time the speaker is being pronounced dead by Ugandans. 

Jacob Oulanyah last appeared in Parliament on December 21, 2021. He disappeared from the public eye last year after his swearing in for a month after presiding over Parliament at the reading of the 2021/2022 financial year budget at Kololo independence grounds.

Parliament said that the Speaker was absent because he was on a private visit to check on his family abroad.
