21 days lockdown looms as ‘Omicron’ Covid-19 cases spike, details leak

Ugandans have high hopes that the country’s economy will fully be opened early next year but their hopes may be crushed according to new details obtained from former presidential candidate Joseph Kabuleeta. 

The Ministry of Health has confirmed over 1840 new Omicron cases in just 3 days.

“Results of COVID-19 tests done on 25 December 2021 confirm 743 new cases. The cumulative confirmed cases are 135,091.

“Results of COVID-19 tests done on 24 December 2021 confirm 1,116 new cases. The cumulative confirmed cases are 134,348,” MOH announced.

According to Kabuleeta, government is planning on Insitituting a fresh 21 day lockdown due to the surging numbers of Omicron Covid-19 variant. 

“I have reliably learnt that the Archbishop of Covid religion in Uganda , and his clerics at Ministry of Health are planning another 21-day lockdown mbu to curb down the third wave,” Kabuleeta said in a statement.

Additionally, he noted how media houses have already been paid to spread the Omicron Covid-19 gospel.

“While they pretend like they are resigned to the prospect of a full reopening , the truth is that media houses and some social media influencers (or influenzas) have already received money to do relentless Covid reporting starting tomorrow December 27th. I could mention them but I don’t have to. You will see the,” He added.

Government is yet to respond to Kabuleta’s allegations.
