BREAKING: Masaka’s Kitovu Hospital doctors confirmed dead after drowning, one leaves girlfriend pregnant

Two intern doctors Dr. Emma Kidambire and Ahmed Abdullah attached to Kitovu Hospital drowned on Wednesday while rafting at Nabugabo Sand beach. 

Dr. Kidambire was the head of Interns at Kitovu Hospital in Masaka and a student at Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) while Dr. Ahmed Abdullah, a Somalia citizen, was pursuing Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and surgery at Mbarara University of Science and Technology.

As of Thursday, only Dr. Kidambire’s body has been found.

Patrick Wetaka, a close friend to Dr. Abdullah has described how the incident happened. 

“Dr. Abdullah had gone with a number of friends, mostly fellow Doctors, to Nabugabo sand beach on Lake Victoria shores in Masaka. He had been going rafting and decided to take them. The others chickened out but Ahmed and Kidambire went into the lake on a raft. Not far in, Kidambire fell into the water.

“He couldn’t swim, so Abdullah jumped in to save him, shouting, keep calm. On seeing the two gentlemen struggling, the guys at the shore ran to call for help. When they returned moments later, the two life jackets were floating and young doctors were missing,” Patrick Wetaka explained.

Dr. Walujjo Benard, a close pal to Dr. Kidambire has sent his condolences and revealed that his friend is survived by a pregnant Girlfriend. 

“Our peasant parents have always been our inspiration, to uplift their welfare. Dr. Emma, I know the Angels have received you. Rest in peace. You left your girlfriend Kisakye Caroline nearing term with your pregnancy I know you are watching over them,” Dr Walujjo Benard said.
