Atleast 109 people have been confirmed with Sudan Ebola in Uganda since the virus was declared in the country.

The Ebola outbreak was declared 35 days ago in Madudu, Mubende district.

Of 109 confirmed positive cases, 30 succumbed, 34 treated and 45 are under treatment.
However, despite President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s decision to restrict movements in the two districts; Mubende and Kassanda more deaths are reported, people still find their way to Kampala and other parts of the country.

According to the Health Minister, Dr. Jane Ruth Acheng, by October 23, 2022, 14 individuals were confirmed positive for #Ebola in Greater Kampala region.  Most of the cases are contacts of the fatal case who came from Kassanda  district and passed on in Mulago Hospital.

Since the Ebola outbreak intensifies and cases expanding to the capital city, Ministry of Health officials are in panic with less options of controling the fast spread of the virus at the moment.

Recently, Doctors advised President Museveni to lockdown Kampala before the situation gets out of their hands.

Uganda Medical Association (UMA) president Dr. Samuel Oledo, Museveni should lock Kampala since people are still talking the situation minor.

“The earlier we lockdown Kampala the better. Ugandans are still taking it as something so minor. It is catastrophic that right now, people are not even reporting cases”- UMA president, Dr Samuel Oledo said.

Boom Uganda sources revealed that the president called an emergency cabinet meeting to discuss the way forward.

Sources revealed further that LOCKDOWN for Kampala is one of the key issues to be discussed about in the meeting.

President Museveni is expected to address the country on Friday to update the country about the progress on fighting the deadly Sudan Ebola Virus.

We shall keep you updated as all this unfolds in our eyes.
