Uganda Musicians Association set to hold presidential elections

UMA set for elections

Uganda Musicians Association interim president Cinderella Sanyu aka Cindy has announced that the association is in preparations to hold elections that will see new leaders come in. 

“We shall have elections for UMA , either we get new leaders or the old one stay,” – Cindy stated.

The association say that for a musician to participate in the election, they must be her registered members.

“You have to be a musician and a member of UMA to vote. Come and register when it’s still early.” 

Cindy who had been serving as vice president of the union took over from Wycliffe Tugume alias Ykee Benda as president following his resignation in February 2021.

 UMA was initiated in 2017 and officially launched in May 2020 and in a period of one year, it has been in hands of three presidents. 

It’s sole purpose is to protect, preserve Ugandan music and promote unity among Ugandan musicians.
