“All UMA leadership contestants are just strategising on getting money from Gov’t,” Mathias Walukagga spills bean

Singer and now Kyengera Town council mayor Mathias Walukaga is not seeing good intentions in Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) candidates.

UMA has been active for only five years but artists in it always accuse one another of embezzling the association’s funds.

Last year 2021, different artists went to Gulu to meet Gen Salim Saleh but things didn’t go well because when they reached they divided themselves into groups of which some received money while others didn’t.

According to Walukaga, the characters that artists showed last year while in Gulu meant a lot to the industry.

Mathias Walukaga revealed that everyone is targeting government money but not improving the industry as they are saying in their manifestos.

“Every individual who is contesting in UMA is laying strategies to get money from Government. We saw it last year when they went to Gulu and I don’t think it has changed up to now,” Mathias Walukagga.
