We are on counting down to the anticipated world class football tournament, WORLD CUP 2022. The 22nd running of the FIFA World Cup competition will kick off on November 20, 2022, with the host Qatar facing off with Ecuador at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor.

Being a country with a huge love for football, the government of Uganda has injected Shs1.56bn into the World Cup broadcast.

According to the Minister for ICT and National Guidance Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, the Uganda Broadcasting Service has secured broadcasting rights for the 2022 global Showpiece.

“UBC has secured rights to air free World Games on UBC and Star TV and all its eleven radio stations throughout the country”, he said.

“The World Cup was moved from June to November due to the intense summer heat. According to FIFA, the World Cup viewership is projected to be 5bn globally.”

“As a football loving nation, the government of Uganda has always supported the public broadcaster to ensure that citizens are part of the global community in sports, entertainment, trade as well as science and innovation.

“Let us enjoy the games as part of our festive season and leverage on it to grow our business through sponsorship, promotion and advertising.” Said Baryomunsi.
