Eddy Kenzo Stunned as Azawi Appears on USA's Billboards

Congratulatory messages for singer Azawi are flowing on social media after she appeared on The Times Square billboards in Newyork and Los Angeles USA becoming the first Ugandan female singer and third Ugandan singer to have appeared thereafter Kenzo and Bobi Wine. 

The BET award winner who became the first Ugandan musician to appear on the platform in September 2020 and again in May 2021 is among the many Ugandans that have heaped praises on Azawi.

“Another milestone for the Ugandan music industry, such things give me great joy. Our girl Azawi is shining brighter at the NEW YORK Times Square and Los Angeles. She will represent Uganda in the YouTube Black voices class of 2022. Congs girl,” Kenzo said in a social media post

Advertising on The Times Square billboards is expensive which explains why very few people get to appear there. 

It is estimated that around 300,000 people pass by the billboards per day. 

The “Quinamino” hitmaker was able to appear on the huge platform after signing up for a deal with Google’s YouTube as she is set to join their YouTube Black voices classes in 2022 where she will be joined by six artists from Nigeria and South Africa.
