Investigative Journalist Canary Mugume, an employee of NBS is being attacked by netizens accusing him of lacking professionalism in reporting crime.
The angry netizens allege that Canary tampered with the crime scene before police corrected all the information they needed to carry out a detailed investigation about Gen Edward Katumba Wamala’s shooting.
“The crime scene is already compromised. They allowed many guys to access it – soldiers and other guys who shouldn’t have been. Canary even touched the car while he was reporting,” A social media user claims.
In response to critics, Canary has denied touching on Katumba’s car at the crime scene. He says he has enough training on reporting around the crime scenes.
“I didn’t. Stop spreading fake news. I have training on reporting around crime scenes,” Canary responded.
However, a one Abura Ivan has blasted the NBS TV star telling him to back-off.
“Which training…. Take away your nonsense,” Ivan said.
The journalist was among the first media people to reach the crime scene in Kisaasi to do a live coverage on TV. It should be noted that the former Chief of Defence Forces survived an assassination on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. His daughter Brenda Nantongo Wamala and driver Haruna Kigundu were shot dead by stray bullets.
