Sheikh Muzaata’s Will Shocks Nation, Denies All His Wives Inheritance to Property

Shiekh Muzaata's Widow Kulthum

Since his untimely passing a few months ago,  there has been a bitter property wrangle between Late Muzaata Baate’s wives Kulthum Nabunya and Amina Namawejje. The two claim they deserved to take the matrimonial home, which has left them at loggerheads.

However, Ugandans have been left shocked by a will reportedly written by Muzaata himself. The will reveals that the former vibrant Muslim cleric had already divorced both wives before his death.

The will which is dated 17th August 2020, therefore, prohibits both wives from having shares on the late’s property.

“I married Amina Namawejje and she’s the mother of my children, Amujad Ssozi and Hamidah Nassozi but we separated and she’s no longer my wife. I married a second wife, Kulthum Nabunya and she’s the mother to my child Ssesanga, even her we separated and she’s no longer my wife. I’ve not left any widow, I separated with both of them a long time ago. All my wealth is for my three children..” Part of the will reads.

According to Muzaata’s lawyer, the will was written following the sharia law which only grants one a chance to have a share on the late’s properties only if they were still together before his death.  In this case, Both wives are not favoured by the law.

It remains to be seen what the next course of action is for the two widows. Watch the space.
