Oscar Nyesiga alias Oscar Kampala on Tuesday received recognition from Parliament and Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa assents it as was graduating from Makerere University after pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion and Design.

Oscar was among the 13221 students that graduated from the recently concluded Makerere University 73rd Graduation as one of the best.

Known for his brand Oscar Kampala which gained him popularity in 2022 after it went viral with a first edition marketing campaign run by the high profile brand which included over 300 youths who gathered in tailored suits by the designer Oscar in August of 2022, he was so honoured and took to his Twitter and shown how humbled he was.

“My University story is punctuated by such toil and numerous break-downs. To graduate is a manifestation of the rewards of grit and hard work.

“I am glad that my journey inspired quite a number of young people, and that it has elevated me to spaces of inspiration and Learning. Take for instance, i was blessed to have been hosted by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa. If this isn’t an even bigger epiphany of the powerful plans the Lord has for me, i don’t know what is,” He wrote on Twitter.

In 2022, Oscar was awarded continental accolades in Zambia after emerging as the Best Young Entrepreneur of the Year Africa and Best Celebrity Stylist of the Year.

He went on to scoop the title of ‘Most Inspirational Youth of the Year’ in the country.

The talented designer has also raised the Ugandan flag higher by styling international celebrities like Jidenna, Kizz Daniel, Bennie Man, Dj Neptune, Fireboy DML, Oxlade, Eddy Kenzo and many more.

As the nation seeks to support local enterprises through the ‘Buy Uganda Build Uganda’ initiative, Oscar Kampala has been at the center of numerous societal movements like ‘1000 Men in Oscar Kampala’ and ‘300 Men in Oscar Kampala which have rallied Ugandans to appreciate home made brands.
