Singer Sophia Nantongo who has been off the music scene for quite a long time is in hot soup after reportedly stealing 11 million Uganda shillings.
According to a video going viral on social media, Sophia Nantongo is being pinned for extorting millions of shillings from various people in the disguise of providing jobs in the USA.
While appearing for an interview, one of Sophie‘s sore victims said that he paid 11 millions to the singer as a prerequirement for processing his documents after promising to get him a job in the US.
That he also availed his passport to Sophia to extract all the necessary details and all this was done in the month of June and he was given until October to have everything done.
What assured him of Sophia being authentic is because she’s a friend to this man’s sister. He, therefore, didn’t think that she would con him.
However, according to Boom Uganda sources, the day she called him asking him for certain info is when he learnt that something about her is fishy. This is because the information she was asking for could be got from his passport.
“I gave Sophia Nantongo 11 million, she had promised to take me to the US something she didn’t fulfill. I had given her my passport on which she could get all the information she wanted to know about me. She said she was taking us as a group but time passed and she wasn’t giving us mileage. Days passed and nothing was going on a thing that showed us a red flag, when we tried calling her, she tried threatening us that’s when we reported her to Jinja police station. She was arrested but later bribed the police and she was given a bond of 2 months but she had promised earlier that after getting bond, she wasn’t to pay the money.”Said the guy.
He says Sophia Nantongo was arrested last year in December but when released from police she left there 3 million as an exhibit fee.
