Kampala city lord Mayor and lawyer Elias Lukwago claims that the arrest of events promoter Abby Musinguzi also known as Abitex is unfair.
Abitex was arrested last week after the incident that happened at Freedom City on New Years and left 11 people dead and others were injured.
As the person who had organised the event, the safety of people was placed in his hands. But things got out of his control.
Abitex was arrested and charged with negligence.
However, according to Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago, Abitex’s arrest is unfair because there were more parties involved.
He said the owner of the venue and the team in charge of fireworks should also be arrested.
“Abitex and his friend have been charged with negligence however it is unfair because there were other parties involved including the Police, the owner of the venue, and the team in charge of the fireworks and they all need to be held accountable,” – Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago says.
