The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has directed Ugandan artistes and entertainment industry stakeholders to get Tax Identification Numbers (TINs) as they are expected to start paying taxes in the next financial year.
The Key stakeholders who are expected to be taxed include promoters, artistes, authors, producers, events managers, bar owners, hotel owners, and space owners among others.
URA says that any of the categories of people have to get their TINs to ease tax collection and if they fail to comply with the order, the culprit shall attract a fine and imprisonment.
“Reminder Tweet to all events promoters, Musician, Djs, Vjs, and others who earn income from the Entertainment sector. Failure to comply shall attract a fine and imprisonment.” The Authority tweeted.
This order comes after many people in the entertainment industry dogging to pay taxes depending on their role in the industry.
