Comedian Madrat real name Dickson Lubega renamed Umar Lubega after converting to Islam has revealed how he got his famous stage name ‘Madrat’.
Madrat is known for the comedy he does with fellow comedian Chiko under a duo stage name Madrat & Chiko.
Madrat not being his real name, people have always wondered how the celebrated comedian came up with his famous stage name and the story behind it.
In an interview with Boom Uganda, he revealed that the name Madrat came from self proclaimed ghetto president Buchaman and he gave it to him according to the characters he always portrayed around him.
Madrat said he was always stubborn and Buchaman referred to him as a Mad Rat. Madrat added that he found potential in the name when de decided to join the comedy Industry.
“Buchaman gave me the name “Madrat” as he often said that I was so stubborn and deserved to be called a Mad Rat and this is how I took on the name,” -Umar Lubega aka Madrat stated.
It should be noted that Madrat is no longer a Christian, he completely converted to Islam last week.
